Welcome to our revamped blog. Formerly known as the Voice of SARA for our core software application and its text-to-voice capability, we held a contest among our employees a few weeks ago to come up with a new name.
We want to educate the marketplace about situational awareness (SA) for life safety, security, environmental monitoring and mass notification and tell a bigger story about the power of information when it’s harnessed correctly and delivered to the right people on the right devices. SA is a risk management strategy any organization can and should implement to gather information about its operational status – especially potential threats. There are no second chances when it comes to protecting people and stuff. That’s why “because RIGHT NOW matters most” is our slogan.
So Charles Brown, IT Support, in our Charlottesville office won the contest because he suggested The KNOW with an emphasis on “NOW” because it reinforces who we are and what we’re all about – defeating ignorance-based loss with real-time information to prevent loss of life, property, business and convenience/comfort.
Now – there’s that word again – let’s get on with letting you know about a white paper you may be interested in, especially if you work in a hospital. But the thesis is valid across industries – technology convergence is the key to SA.
To try to solve the alerting and communication challenges created by disparate systems, hospitals often make unnecessary investments in replacement systems. But a rip-and-replace strategy isn’t an economical or necessarysolution when most alarm and communication systems within a hospital can be integrated as part of a comprehensive SA strategy. Then hospitals can sharpen their focus on patient care, reduce inefficiencies, and increase the ROI of their existing alarm and communication systems.
